The American Council on Gift Annuities has established an endowment fund to assist promising gift planners with their professional development. The Terry L. Simmons Philanthropic Endowment Fund will provide scholarships to worthy individuals who would otherwise be unable to attend the Conference on Gift Annuities.

These donors are looking for basic information about charitable gift annuities, and nearly every individual asks, "Can you provide a list of charities that offer gift annuities?"</p> <p>ACGA would like to provide a higher level of service to these potential donors. We have therefore launched a special section of the ACGA web site devoted to prospective donors. Aside from basic information about gift annuities, we include lists of our sponsoring charities, with hyperlinks to their web sites, in an attempt to help donors locate responsible charities with active gift annuity programs.</p> <p>We intend to exercise due diligence in providing this information to the general public. We therefore require that any sponsor interested in being included in the list provide a statement signed by an officer of the organization. This statement will indicate that the charity is aware of and abides by the Model Standards of Practice for the Charitable Gift Planner. The Model Standards were drafted and adopted by ACGA and the National Committee on Planned Giving in 1991, and were revised in 1999.</p>
