Summer is here and what a year it’s been so far. The COVID-19 pandemic has challenged each of us in ways that we couldn’t have imagined four months ago. Yet, we’ve helped our families, friends, colleagues and communities face the challenges from the impact of the virus through acts of kindness and generosity, big and small. We’ve settled into our new digital reality and found ways to adapt to working from home. The ACGA ventured into new digital territory by moving our 34th Conference to a virtual platform which was a great success. We’ve continued to prioritize our donors and remained focused in helping them make an impact through their giving. Our collective resilience in the face of this pandemic has been amazing and awe-inspiring.

In the midst of the pandemic crisis, there has also been a spotlight on social and racial injustice as incidents of bigotry and hatred, some with tragic consequences, are brought to light. Witnessing the protests for racial and social justice happening around the world serves as a reminder that systemic racism continues to plague our communities. Our continued empathy, understanding and allyship with the Black, Latinx, Indigenous, and other people of color in our communities are necessary in order to move forward and realize the power and potential that comes from embracing diversity and inclusion.

We at the American Council on Gift Annuities embrace and celebrate diversity, equity and inclusion. We believe in cultivating an inclusive environment for everyone regardless of race, religion, age, gender, and/or sexual orientation. We believe that everyone is deserving of fair and equitable treatment within a just society.

As professionals in the philanthropic community, we each have made it our life’s work to help our donors fulfill their goals of making the world a bit better by supporting the organizations for which we work. All of us who work for purpose and impact have a responsibility to do our parts collectively to demonstrate that a better world is possible and continue our work in making it so.

We at the ACGA will continue to strive to do our part.
