We’re at that time of year when generosity is front and center for donors, vendors, and professionals who serve donors and the missions that benefit from that generosity. In addition to current gifts, charitable gift annuities are frequently a vehicle that donors select to fuel the missions that benefit our communities and our world. Staying current on the latest on charitable gift annuities including news on suggested maximum rates is critical for any institution that offers these gifts. If you’ve not yet read the news, at a meeting on November 8, 2019, the ACGA approved a decrease in the suggested maximum payout rates for charitable gift annuities. In general, the payout rates will be lowered by 0.3 to 0.5 percentage points, based on the annuitant(s) age(s) (e.g., payout reduction of $30 to $50 on a $10,000 donation). These new rates will become effective on January 1, 2020. I encourage you to read the material on our website that explains the assumptions that led to this change.
Of course, I would be remiss if I didn’t remind you about the 34th ACGA Gift Planning Conference to be held next April 20-22 in our new Monday-Wednesday format. We will be meeting at the beautiful Renaissance Atlanta Waverly Hotel & Convention Center, which features terrific break-out rooms, ballrooms for our plenary sessions, and a fabulous exhibit hall space surrounded by a hotel that has all the amenities you could want. Don’t miss the Early Bird registration discount through February 14, 2020, and the opportunity to be in attendance to hear the latest critical information in our field including a full rates report.
As this year and the decade come to an end, we would like to thank you for being an ACGA member and supporting the work that we do to serve our community every day. Happy Holidays, and best wishes for a healthy, happy and successful 2020.
