Fun Facts About Chris

What was your first job?

I was approached by the guidance counselor at my high school in Muncie, Indiana, with a job opportunity from the local florist, who was looking for a student to deliver flowers after school. I guess I appeared responsible enough to drive a small delivery truck around town as a 16-year-old. It turned out to be a fun job, as no one angrily greets you at their front door when you have a bouquet for them in hand. It also taught me some valuable navigation skills years before GPS became available. That said, the hourly rate was quite meager, and people were always so taken aback by the unexpected gift that they neglected to tip.  Always remember to tip your flower delivery guy!

If you could eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

My favorite food is peanut butter, which I enjoy each morning on toast. As William F. Buckley, Jr., once remarked, “If peanut butter were priced like caviar, it would be served in all the world’s finest restaurants.”

If you could learn one new personal skill, what would it be?

Learning languages has always been difficult for me, but today I’m studying Spanish and Dutch simultaneously. Having moved from New York to Miami, speaking Spanish is essential, and I am blessed with an eighteen-month-old granddaughter born to my Dutch daughter-in-law. If I could wave a magic wand, I’d become fluent in Spanish and Dutch.

What do you like most about your job?

I really enjoy my role as the outsourced chief investment officer for endowment and foundation clients, helping them access high-quality, unconflicted, transparent, and cost-effective portfolio solutions that enable them to achieve their long-term financial objectives and programmatic missions.
